A Way Of Gardening Without A Garden
by John Yazo
Limited space isn't a reason not to plant a garden anymore. You can have the same quality high yielding vegetable garden by using a method called container planting. It is a less labor intensive method of gardening and requires only limited space.
Window boxes are a method of container gardening. They are away of making use of limited space and at the same time adding to the appearance of your home. You can plant herbs, vegetable along with flowers and enjoy the beauty of nature in front of your eyes through your windows.
Container planting or gardening is a great way to landscape an outdoor patio. You can place pots or containers in clusters, in a row, staggered or just randomly place next to a chair, table or even in the yard. They can be moved if needed or to make a change to the landscape at anytime.
Container and window boxes come in a variety of shapes and sizes and can be easily made as a simple do-it-yourself project out of almost any type of container. If you plan on making your own just make sure that you provide holes in the bottom of the container for drainage. Not having the proper drainage will allow the container or pot to fill with water and can cause the plants root system to rot.
Hanging plants are another method of container planting. They can be used in front of windows or randomly placed among the landscape as any other container. The one unique thing about hanging plants is that they can be placed at different heights or can even be setup with a pulley system so the heights can be changed at anytime or even raised or lowered for maintenance reasons.
Landscaping your outdoor patio with container plantings can create a relaxing and environment along with attracting wildlife to your yard for you to admire.
