Just the beauty alone that a water garden adds to your yard is enough of a reason to create one of these attractive landscaping features in your own backyard. Along with them being attractive there are benefits that water gardens bring to the environment.
Whenever to are near a running stream, river or a waterfall you can smell the freshness in the air, this also happens after a rainfall. It is because water helps to purify the air, it removes toxins and other impurities that are in our atmosphere. Water gardens will do the same, just take a deep breath near one and you will see for yourself.
Water gardens are an eco-friendly method of gardening and you can include growing your vegetables in one. What more can you ask for, a healthy crop that at the same time is helping to purify the air you are breathing. Along with filtering the air they are also a method of gardening that conserves more water than a traditional garden grown in soil. To water plants that are grown in soil you need to soak the soil for the plants to benefit from the moisture. A lot of the water that is soaked into the ground never reaches the plants. It is evaporated or leached into the ground. In a water garden you don't have that worry. The plants always have a steady supply of water whenever they need it.
A water garden is a great way to influence young children to help create a better future for our planet. Getting children involved in the water garden design and maintenance is a great way to help them get an interested in our environmental issues. This method of gardening has it's own complete eco-system that includes fish, useful bacteria, plant life, and insects all working in harmony with nature. All this makes water gardens an excellent educational tool that will teach you how natures natural systems work and keep things in balance.
