The Benefits Raised Beds Have Over the Traditional Garden
by John Yazo
The traditional method of gardening that has been past down through generations is a method that is commonly used in farming. Gardening in the home backyard garden is something that should be enjoyed and not thought of as work. Gardening in raised beds will take the work out of gardening and make it something that you look forward to do.
Growing your crops in rows takes a lot of hard work and a lot of land to grow a garden. This method of gardening in rows is a common method for commercial farming where the spacing is needed for equipment to cultivate between the crops in large fields. There is a lot of wasted space and cost when this method is brought to use in the home garden.
Raised
beds eliminate the need to have a lot of room to garden, along with
being cost efficient by conserving
water and the amount of nutrients
needed to feed the crops your are growing. By using the method of organic gardening
along with composting and raised beds you will eliminate the need of
fertilizers.Raised bed
gardens
are ideal when the existing soil in your yard is to hard to work, rocky
or even a great way to build a garden on a slope by terracing. Simply
build your garden on top of the existing soil and fill it with a soil
mix of 1/3 compost, 1/3 peat moss and 1/3 vermiculite or perlite to
create the ideal soil that your plants will thrive in, along with
creating a garden that involves very little work.
