Reasons to Consider Natural Landscaping

by John Yazo

The development of land involves the removal of native plant life and could cause harm, if not destroy the natural biology that exists in the soils. In most cases the plant life is replace by a landscape of grass, shrubs, trees and flowers that aren't native to the area. These new landscapes tend to evolve themselves into a sterile environment that doesn't fit into the natural ecosystem. It is an environment create by humans and not one provided by nature naturally.

The use of chemicals to provide nutrients to this new plant life, herbicides to control weed problems and pesticides to control the pests can do more harm than good. They not only destroy the natural biology of the soil, and a quick fix for plant nutrition, they can pollute the air we breath and the water we drink, where as the natural biology in soils will do just the opposite.

A good healthy organic soil structure is one that is developed naturally. Letting the organic matter and the natural organisms in the soil work together to provide a healthy soil structure for plant life to thrive in. This natural process can provide plant life the nutrients they need to thrive, create a natural environment that will control pests and disease problems naturally, while giving the plants the health and strength to defend for themselves. A good healthy organic soil structure is one that will retain the moisture and nutrients need for plant life to benefit from, while having the ability to drain well. This gives the plant life the ability to also be more drought tolerant.

Planting a natural landscape is also a great way to bring back the life in the soil that has been deleted by the use of chemicals. Organic methods of improving the soils structure will do a lot more that just grow plants. Nature has many natural benefits to provide us if we just let it do it's work and don't interrupt it.

Bring back the natural life in your yard by planting a natural landscape. It is easy to do and are a lot less labor intensive to maintain. Nature will do most of the work for you once you have planted it, and with a little thoughtful plant selection, you can have a garden that will supply you with the natural beauty that only nature can provide all year round.

The combination of native plant life and wildlife is what balances the ecosystem. Plants can provide both the food and the shelter for wildlife to survive.
