by John Yazo
If you are planning create new landscape gardens, or planning a major landscape project in your yard, then natural landscaping is something you should consider. It is a way of gardening with native plants from your area and a method of gardening along with nature, not against it.
Natural landscape gardens can be designed in many different ways or styles. They can be, formal, designed as a wildlflower garden or even resemble a meadow or wetland. Whatever way you decide to design your garden, natural landscape gardens when fully established can be practically a care free garden compared to the traditional methods of gardening with the use of chemicals.
A natural garden is one that isn't dependent on chemicals for nutrients, pest control, or weed control. They are an ecosystem that supports themselves, letting nature do it work naturally, by letting the biology of the soil and the wildlife in the area do it's work to provide plant life with there needs to thrive.
Natural landscaping improves, air, soil and water quality, and not polluting it with the use of toxic chemicals. Having a healthy organic soil structure for the plant life in your natural landscape to thrive can only be done by nature. The soils natural biology is a very important part of the ecosystem and should be respected and not abused. It can provide and at no cost, the nutrients needed for the plant life in your yard and gardens to thrive, while at the same time conserve water.
More gardeners are seeing the importance of organic lawncare and gardening. Creating a natural landscape isn't only limited to landscape gardens. Incorporating plants that you normally plant in your vegetable gardens into your natural landscaping projects can be very beneficial. There are many crops that will do well, while adding an accent to your design.
You can add crops like lettuce as a ground cover, strawberries plants as a border or even a few tomato plants spaced out among other flowers, blueberries and even raspberries can be included in your design. Your imagination is the limit when designing any type of garden. Don't be afraid to experiment, you will never know what the end results are unless you try.
Natural gardening isn't only limited to a rural setting, suburban and urban areas can just as easily garden with these same methods, and it is a great way for these areas to connect with nature.
