Horticultural Vermiculite
by John Yazo
Horticultural Vermiculite has many uses and benefits for plants. It is a excellent choice to use for improving soil aeration, water retention and to retain nutrients to feed plants. It also helps seeds to germinate faster and promote faster growth.
Vermiculite is permanent, odorless, sterile, non-toxic and clean to work with. It will not decompose or deteriorate and doesn't get moldy. When vermiculite is added as an amendment to spahgum peat, coir or composted pine bark it promotes root growth faster by retaining air, nutrients and moisture then releasing these elements to the plants as they need them. it is very light in weight and easy to mix with soil, peat, compost and an ecellent choice to be used in soilless potting soil mix.
The cation exchange properties of vermiculite give it the ability to retain ammonion, potassium, calcium and magnesium to promote plant growth.
