Open Pollinated Jupiter Bell Peppers Grown in Your Organic Garden

The Jupiter open pollinated bell pepper is a very productive choice for the home organic garden. It has a maturity of 74 - 78 days. This highly productive variety is is very easy to grow in pots, containers, gardens or even as a part of your edible landscape.
This variety of pepper produces a large size sweet bell pepper that turns from it's original deep green color to a red as it matures. It has a thick wall that makes it the perfect choice for stuffing and freezing. The lush bushy foliage of this plant makes the perfect environment for protecting the pepper crop naturally from sun damage.
When planting peppers you want a good healthy garden soil structure that is well drained and amended with plenty of organic matter. Peppers like nutrients that are slightly high in nitrogen and phosphorous and an area of full sunlight. This crop will thrive under these conditions.
Temperature is a key factor that needs to be kept in mind when planting peppers. Wait until the night time temperatures in your area stay above 50 degrees Fahrenheit before you plant your crop outdoors is very important.
When planting peppers they should be placed at a minimum distance of 1 1/2 foot apart, in rows spaced 2 feet apart, in an area of full sunlight and protected from the wind. Once you have finished planting, water deeply and mulch with a layer of straw to help keep the soil moist in the soil, along with suppressing weeds. A good fertile soil is the key to having a productive pepper crop. If there are signs of pale leaves or slow growth you can give them a feeding of compost or manure tea to help them along.
Harvest sweet peppers when they are green or fully mature using a garden scissor so the plant doesn't get damaged. Picking peppers as they mature will encourage new buds to form.
