A Healthy Soil Structure Does More Than Grow Healthy Plants
by John Yazo
A good healthy garden starts with a healthy soil structure. Compost is the key to creating this type of soil for your organic garden. Full of natural nutrients and beneficial organic matter it will greatly improve the soil structure of your garden.
Adding compost to your gardens soil is a great way to replenish nutrients back into the soil your crops need to thrive. Not all the nutrients come directly from the compost. When adding this organic matter to your garden, you are also adding the fuel needed for all the beneficial microorganisums that live in the soil to do there job of continuing the process of decomposing this matter into beneficial nutrients and purifying the environment at the same time.
Adding this organic matter to your gardens soil is not only improving your gardens soil structure, it is fueling what is known as the soil food web. This soil food web is greatly beneficial in helping to create a clean environment. Having healthy plants in your garden will help clean the air we breath. These toxins in the soil get taken in through the plants and get filtered out. In the soil there is even a larger operation being preformed by a beneficial diverse community of microorganisms that live in the soil.
There are many benefits that can be had by composting and keeping the soil in your garden healthy. Creating a natural environment in your garden as nature does naturally in our forests, fields and meadows will greatly improve the health of your garden.
