Creating A Plan For Your Kitchen Scarp Composting

Planning is a very important part of composting your kitchen scraps. Items that can be composted can add up quickly and if not properly stored until they can be composted can cause problem. This plan should start from food preparation to the proper method of storing the spoils or waste. There are some interesting methods that can be done to make good use of some of your scarps from the kitchen as well as preserve or store your scarps that isn't commonly though of.
Scraps from vegetables like, the peels, skins and stalks can be used and not composted. These are items that allot of restaurants use to make there soups. Just put them in a pot with water and let them simmers for a few hours to make a stock that is is excellent for a homemade soup. Once it has finished simmering you can let it cool, then refrigerate or freeze to be used at a latter date.
Storing scraps from the kitchen for composting can be done a couple of different ways. The first is in a plastic bag in a refrigerator. To take up less space you can shred them by hand or with a food processor first. Another way is to store them in a kitchen compost bucket, crock or pail until you are ready to put them in your composting system.
The proper storage of organic waste from the kitchen is very important. With a little planning you can store your kitchen scraps neat and safely .
