Organic gardening involves controlling insects naturally, not destroying them. Insects are not all bad. There are many beneficial insects that help in your garden. They help pollinate plants and control unwanted insects.

The use of pesticides is only a temporary solution to pest control. They will also destroy the microorganisms that live in the soil. The beneficial insects and microorganisms that live in the soil are needed to maintain a good healthy soil structure in an organic garden. Along with killing the life in the soil pesticides also pollute our air and our water supplies. Insect control starts by studying your plants, watching for signs of destruction. Studying and identifying the insects that are in your garden. Watching  the behavior of an insect can help in the prevention of damage they cause without the use of toxic chemical insecticides.

This way will will be able to identify the egg form of unwanted insects when you see them and remove them before any damage to your plants have started. Getting familiar with the insects in your garden will help you from destroying beneficial insects.

Planting of attractive flowers that beneficial insects like is a source of insect control. Heirloom or native plants are the best choice to plant. They are a larger producer of nectar than hybrid plants are. Nectar is a very important part of a beneficial insects food source and will also attract butterflies and hummingbirds to your garden. including plants in the garden that will provide shade and a cool area out of the sun will attract toads to your garden, which are another benefit to insect control. It is a lot safer and healthier for both the plants, environment and you to use natural measures to control insects than the use of toxic chemicals  that are in insecticides.

Once you get to know the insects, there life cycle, and habits you will be able to control them without the use of chemicals.
